FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Praesum Communications Introduces RapidIO® Endpoint Intellectual Property for LatticeECP2M FPGAs

Solution Enables Low Cost RapidIO Connectivity for Wireless Infrastructure and Other Markets

Petaluma, CA, January 28, 2008, Praesum Communications continues to expand its portfolio of Serial RapidIO Endpoint solutions with support for the LatticeECP2M™ family of low-cost FPGAs. In addition, Praesum has joined Lattice's ispLeverCORE™ Connections IP partner program.

The first offering is a 1x LP-Serial Physical Layer Core which supports RapidIO connectivity at data rates up to 3.125 Gbps. Depending on the chosen feature set, the RapidIO 1.3 compliant core consumes between 50 and 70% of an LFE2M20, the smallest member of the LatticeECP2M family. This leaves a significant amount of additional device resources for implementing customer applications, such as bridging to data plane interfaces such as CPRI or control interfaces such as PCI Express.

"Praesum sees significant opportunity for its LatticeECP2M-based Serial RapidIO solutions in the wireless systems infrastructure market. The unique combination of high-speed SerDes for multiple protocols, miserly power consumption, small scale packaging and outstanding value lend itself well to current Serial RapidIO design trends, especially where multiple protocols are involved." says Kent Dahlgren, president of Praesum Communications. "When combined with our RapidIO End Point IP, LatticeECP2M significantly reduces the cost to connect application specific functions to a RapidIO fabric."

The RapidIO 1x LP-Serial End-Point Core is currently available from Praesum Communications. A project license for the core is priced at $20,000 USD. A fully functional evaluation version of the core is available for the LatticeECP2M PCI Express x4 Evaluation Board.
